He fell back to penultimate place but made an incredible recovery and finished in the same position he started in. He was also voted Driver of the Day after several overtaking maneuvers and a great comeback.

While his overtaking maneuvers impressed his fans, they did not match the drivers he passed, particularly Kimi Raikkonen. When he passed the Iceman, the two came in contact and the Alfa Romeo driver lost part of his front wing.

Something similar happened last week when both Leclerc and Kimi were involved in a near miss at the Circuit Paul Ricard. Fortunately, their quick response times enabled them to avoid a major crash by just touching each other wheel to wheel.

What did Kimi Raikkonen say?

It’s understandable that Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen was furious after Leclerc damaged his front wing.

The ice man loses all his coolness and says to his team over the radio: “F ** k me, I think he took my front wing. Just damn it turned on. Why the hell didn’t he keep his line? “

Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, didn’t even notice that they had made contact. After the race he said: “I actually didn’t feel any contact with Kimi. I actually found out shortly before that we had contact with Kimi, but I didn’t feel anything in the car. “

The Monegaske came into contact with Pierre Gasly at the beginning of the race, forcing him to box and change his front wing. As a result, he lost several places and in the end almost started the race.

However, the Ferrari man managed to finish the race from his starting position, but described the result as “bittersweet”.

“It’s definitely a bittersweet feeling because when you start the first lap, I count this performance as one of my best,” said Charles Leclerc.

“Well first, thanks to the car, of course. But there were also a lot of overtaking maneuvers. We didn’t lose a lot of time in traffic. And it was just a fun race. I haven’t seen many of my mirrors, I’ve concentrated more on what’s in front of me. “
