Video: Where Mercedes is actually battling Red Bull/Ferrari

Mercedes has barely troubled Ferrari and Red Bull during the 2022 Formula 1 season, but it now finds itself in conflict with them away from the track in a big way.

The reigning constructors’ world champion was at the heart of a huge argument at the Canadian Grand Prix following the FIA’s initial attempt to intervene in the dispute over the porpoising and bottoming out 2022 cars are suffering to varying degrees.

Ferrari and Red Bull pushed back against a last-minute, and subsequently postponed, technical directive issued before the Montreal weekend – which drew the ire of Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.

So what was the point of the directive, what about it did Ferrari and Red Bull object to, and what about their comments led Wolff to label their games “pitiful”? Scott Mitchell explains all in this video.
