At least at first it looked as if Verstappen could finally steal the title from Lewis Hamilton and end its dominance.
In view of the sound comeback from Mercedes since the second race in Imola, the goal for the Milton Keynes team seems a bit too far-fetched again.

What if Red Bull can’t keep up with the ever-growing Mercedes and Verstappen refuses to win his first World Cup trophy this season? Will the Dutchman consider looking for other options, possibly using one of the clauses in his contract?
Well, Red Bull’s advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko has the answer to this question. While rumors swirled that Verstappen could leave Red Bull if the team doesn’t offer him a championship car in 2021, the 78-year-old turned down such stories.
What did the Red Bull F1 advisor say?
In an interview with Motorsport Magazine, the Austrian made it clear that winning the title this season is very important for Verstappen and Red Bull. From the point of view of the contractual clauses, however, Marko showed that it is not important either for the team or for the star driver.
He also took a close look at McLaren’s boss, who predicted at the beginning of this season that Verstappen would switch to Mercedes by the 2022 season.
“Among other things, there is the Zak Brown specialist [laughs]. That doesn’t matter in the contractual situation. But of course it’s important, ”he said. (Translated from German)

Overall, the ongoing title fight is of enormous importance for Red Bull. Reason? This seems like a pretty rare opportunity for Red Bull, who has played second fiddle against Mercedes since 2014.
Therefore, the Austrian team will probably give everything to win a trophy in return. So will they be able to end the rule of Mercedes?
