We’re two months away from the Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix (USGP) at Circuit of The Americas! This October, get ready for thrills of a lifetime at the 10th USGP to be held at COTA which simultaneously marks COTA’s 10th birthday.
With so much to celebrate, COTA will be bursting with all-new experiences and returning classics that will make this year’s festival-like weekend the most exhilarating yet.
Here is a sneak peek of 10 must-see and must-do experiences to look forward to at the 2022 USGP:
10th Birthday Celebration Favors & Treats
A birthday is not complete without party favors and sweets. Keep an eye on COTA’s 10th birthday treats that will roam around the track and other fun surprises throughout the weekend.
Main Street Texas
At almost 269,000 square miles, Texas is a diverse and unique state. With the Davis Mountains, beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, 15 major rivers, giant canyons and pine forests, the “friendship state” has plenty to see and do.
COTA is excited to celebrate its 10th birthday in Austin with its fellow Texas cities by including a showcase of neighboring charming towns, local iconic outdoor adventures, and glamorous international destinations. Take a stroll down Main Street Texas in Lone Star Land and find your next getaway.
Pecan Street Festival
An Austin treasure, the historic 6th Street or Pecan Street Festival celebrates local artisans. From fine art, including painting and digital, to wood craftworks and handmade clothing, this 40+ year tradition continues in the “Park” – COTA’s infield.
Hollywood Car Collection in the Park
Passionate about movies and cars? The Hollywood Car Collection will be a must-see! Located in the Park – COTA’s infield – fans can take pictures with Bumblebee from Transformers, the DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future, Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar Cars, the 1966 Batmobile from Batman and more.
Bigger, Better Fan Zone in the Grand Plaza
As they say, everything is bigger in Texas. This year, the Fan Zone will fit that motto. Fans can take a photo on the Formula 1 Trophy Podium, check out the F1 show car, experience the USGP from the driver’s seat of a simulator, beat the fastest pit stop time, or grab some food at Juicy’s Giant Grill before they look for their favorite team’s gear.
There’s something for everyone in the Fan Zone!
Endless Live Music
Green Day and Ed Sheeran aren’t the only opportunities to vibe at live music over the USGP weekend. More than 30 artists will hit the stages around the track.
Beyond the Super Stage lawn which allows over 80,000 fans to sing and dance, fans will find 7 other stages and roaming performers throughout COTA’s campus. Austin is the “Live Music Capital of The World” after all, and we’re glad you are HEAR to experience it!
Lone Star Land
Enjoy all the Southern comforts of Texas in one space. From photo ops, to live music, to the Texas Monthly award-winning pit masters’ culinary creations, fans can feast their soul on Texan ways in Lone Star Land.
Fiesta Cantina
Lucha Libre Wrestling and mariachi music at a motorsports event? Yes, COTA has it all. Before cheering on the wrestlers, be sure to look up while ordering that margarita to have in hand. You won’t believe the faces on our hilarious piñata collection!
More than just Formula 1 Racing…
USGP Race weekend wouldn’t be complete without the W Series, an all-female, free-to-enter, single seat motorsport championship that provides equal opportunity and focuses on driver talent rather than financial backing. Watch these drivers break records and show the track who has the most skill on Friday and Saturday of race weekend.
Historic car racing? We’ve got that, too.
The Masters Historic and Masters Endurance Legends races feature cars, including prototypes, that were eligible for major endurance racing events from 1995- 2016. Don’t miss the action on the track before and after the main 2022 Formula 1 USGP moments.
Track Invasion
When the checkered flag drops and the winner pulls in on Sunday, the track gates will fly open, and fans are invited to celebrate on the track! Experience the trophy ceremony, grab a souvenir tire marble, and party on the front straight with a surprise celebrity DJ.
Skip the Sunday Traffic: Stay for Dining and Jamming!
Don’t sprint off the track so fast: We’ve got a Sunday “Happy Hour,” or a few, for you after the Track Invasion. Grab some half-price food and beverages, and head to the Germania Insurance Amphitheater to watch a great concert (stay tuned for the artist reveal!) or see what you missed on Friday and Saturday. The Hollywood Car Collection, Pecan Street Festival, and Lone Star Land will all remain open past 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 23.
More experience announcements are coming soon.
Need to book accommodations for USGP weekend? Email [email protected] for great rooms and rates. Sunday-only General Admission tickets will be released on Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. To receive alerts for one-day ticket sales, sign up for Circuit of The Americas’ Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix ticket updates.
About COTA: Circuit of The Americas is the premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States. Set on 1,200 acres in the rolling hills just outside downtown Austin, Circuit of The Americas has hosted the biggest names in racing, action sports and music since 2012. At its heart is a 3.41-mile racetrack that was designed to challenge the world’s most exacting competitors while providing a thrilling spectacle for audiences.
