red bull wrapped up the Constructors’ championship at last week’s race in COTA, capping off one of the most dominant campaigns in the team’s history.
Red Bull have been the cream of the crop this season as they have adapted to the 2022 regulations better than anyone else, even Ferrari and Mercedes.
Max Verstappen has thrived in the new ground-effect era, as he stormed to a 2nd world title, with Red Bull annihilating the opposition, and romping to take both titles.
A remarkable feat for the Austrian team, and given their performance this season, the RB18 is currently placed as one of the most dominant cars in the sport.
What’s more astonishing is that the Red Bull hasn’t been the quickest car by a country mile. The Ferrari F1-75 has, more often than not, been at par with the RB18. At the start of the season, Ferrari won 2 out of the 3 races as Red Bull struggled with reliability. However, as the season progressed, Red Bull just became the better car on race day. Ferrari also let many wins slip through their hands due to driver errors or strategy mistakes.
With three races remaining, there is still a chance for the RB18 car to win more than 80% of the races available this season with the help of Sergio Perez or Verstappen, but as of now, it has won 79% of the races, overtaking both the 2020 Mercedes and the 2004 Ferrari, which guided Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher to win their respective seventh World Drivers’ titles.
Red Bull will be aiming to maintain their level of dominance on the opposition, but you can bet that top teams like Ferrari and Mercedes will take the fight to them next year.
