Lando Norris was eliminated in the first lap on the Hungaroring by Valtteri Bottas, while Daniel Ricciardo was unable to collect points after sustaining damage in the chaos of lap 1.
While McLaren failed to score in Hungary, Seidl remained encouraged by the team’s progress.
“I think it’s an open fight as we saw in the first half of the season. I must say, [Hungary] Didn’t go according to plan but there was nothing to control but it was encouraging for us to see yesterday that we can actually fight Ferrari on a track like this because we hadn’t expected that when we got here “, Said Seidl.
“I’ll watch the first races this season on similar tracks that we couldn’t keep up on. So that speaks to the good work the people at home have done on the development side of continually improving the car, which is encouraging for the second half of the season. “
