Before their debut on the F1 Grand Prix weekend, Ferrari gave junior drivers Mick Schumacher, Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman a run-out on their legendary Fiorano test track. The Formula 2 trio sits behind the wheel of a Ferrari SF71H with 2018 specification.

Schumacher and Ilott will both be in action at the upcoming Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, with Schumacher taking over Antonio Giovinazzi at Alfa Romeo for free practice 1, while Ilott will replace Romain Grosjean at Haas.

Meanwhile, Shwartzman will drive for one of the Ferrari customer teams at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the season. Schumacher, Ilott and Shwartzman currently occupy first, second and fifth place in the Formula 2 classification. There are still two rounds of double headers to support the two F1 races in Bahrain in November and December.

Friday’s practice appearances give Ferrari the opportunity to rate which Ferrari Driver Academy drivers they think are ready for promotion to Formula 1 in 2021 – with potential berths at Ferrari-affiliated teams Alfa Romeo and Haas Driver running in FP1 sessions.
