Santander joins Ferrari again as a sponsor under a multi-year contract · RaceFans

Former Ferrari sponsor Santander has returned to the team with a new multi-year contract from the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The Spanish bank previously sponsored the team between 2010 and 2017. It will return as one of the outfit’s “premium partners” and will put its logo on the teams’ cars, racing suits and hats.

Santander joined Ferrari when Fernando Alonso joined the team in 2010. The team hired another Spanish driver, Carlos Sainz Jr., for the 2021 season. The bank said the new partnership will help Ferrari in its efforts to become carbon neutral by 2030.

“It is an honor to work again with a global financial institution like Santander that is committed to responsible banking and has shown a world leader in renewable energy finance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) advisory services,” said the CEO of Ferrari John Elkann.

“We look forward to working with them to achieve our primary goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. We believe that Formula 1 with its innovations and technological developments will benefit our industry and ultimately society as a whole. “

The future of Ferrari’s support from long-time sponsor Philip Morris International, the Marlboro cigarette manufacturer behind the Mission Winnow brand, is unclear. The contract expires at the end of the season and the title “Mission Winnow” was missing on behalf of the team on the official FIA roster for next year when it was released earlier this month.
