After a difficult 2020 season with Ferrari finishing sixth overall, the team appeared to be making some good progress this season. Both Sainz and Leclerc scored the points at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Leclerc has already pointed out that Ferrari has shaken off the “strange” atmosphere that haunted them early last year, but he now reveals how Sainz also helped change things.
After the Spaniard accepted his move from McLaren, Leclerc says everyone at Ferrari has been strengthened by their enthusiasm for performing well.
In an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com’s Italian website, Leclerc felt that Sainz had brought some benefits.
“He’s been on several teams over the last few years and I think it’s always interesting to get an idea of how the opponents are working,” he said.
“I also immediately noticed his great motivation. He is in his first year with Ferrari and you can see that he wants to do very well straight away.
“This euphoria is contagious for the entire team. I think it’s always good for a team to have two drivers who are pushing to get back to victory. “

One change that Leclerc has noticed while working with Sainz is that he has spent a lot more time with him than ever before with predecessor Sebastian Vettel.
Because even though Leclerc downplayed the talk that he had stepped up his own presence in Maranello, he did notice that times are now different than when the drivers are at Ferrari’s headquarters.
“The time I spend with the team is always the same, although from the outside it may have looked like I was spending more time in Maranello because I posted more photos on social media,” he said.
“What has changed is the time I spent with my teammate because Seb and I have crossed a lot in the past. I would arrive when he left, or vice versa.
“Now, with Carlos, we’re often on the same days and consequently spend more time together.”
