Over the years, the Italian team has built a reputation for making F1 cars with excellent straight-ahead speed. However, last year’s car struggled with aerodynamic issues that limited its potential for straight-ahead travel.
In addition, their unit seemed to be far behind Mercedes in terms of performance. In fact, at this year’s race at Monza, Leclerc and Sainz struggled to keep up on the long straights with McLaren using Mercedes engines.

Since the Ferrari duo already uses three engines, they will become a criminal offense when installing the fourth. And that could happen in Istanbul next month, according to Motorsport. When asked why the engine couldn’t make it to Monza, team boss Mattia Binotto admitted that it wasn’t ready in time.
He said: “This engine wasn’t ready for Monza yet. If the development had been available, we would probably have presented it here. We will use it as soon as it is usable. ”(Quotes translated from Italian)
