Charles Leclerc has a disappointing ending for 2021
It wasn’t the best year for Leclerc. His team-mate Carlos Sainz achieved four podium places with the team in his debut year and was fifth in the drivers’ standings. This clearly outshines Leclerc’s only podium at Silverstone; While the two have bonded closely and have an incredibly healthy relationship, it’s not what Leclerc would have wanted.
Ferrari knows, however, that they have a gem in Monegas. Leclerc was only committed to his Ferrari seat long before he got it, and the team knows it will continue for a long time.
Team boss Mattia Binotto said: “We have invested in him for the long term because we are firmly convinced that he will be the next world champion.”
