It’s no secret that Charles Leclerc has an undying love for Ferrari. Even though he played a key role in bringing his team to third place on the constructors’ list, the 2021 season was not ideal for the driver. Leclerc may need to improve his game as the fine lines in his contract can be destructive to the driver.

Leclerc’s contract with Ferrari contains a very interesting termination clause. If the team does not at least manage to repeat its P3 result, the clause comes into play. This helps keep Leclerc ambitious and in check, as well as keeping him away from other teams.

This also keeps the team competitive and also gives Leclerc his confidence. 2022 looks to be going to be a huge season for Ferrari, who seem excited about the Maranello machine shop. Hence, it will be crucial for both the team and its loyal driver.

Charles Leclerc has a disappointing ending for 2021
It wasn’t the best year for Leclerc. His team-mate Carlos Sainz achieved four podium places with the team in his debut year and was fifth in the drivers’ standings. This clearly outshines Leclerc’s only podium at Silverstone; While the two have bonded closely and have an incredibly healthy relationship, it’s not what Leclerc would have wanted.
Ferrari knows, however, that they have a gem in Monegas. Leclerc was only committed to his Ferrari seat long before he got it, and the team knows it will continue for a long time.
Team boss Mattia Binotto said: “We have invested in him for the long term because we are firmly convinced that he will be the next world champion.”

With Ferrari known for its size, Binotto can be sure that Leclerc is no less. “Charles is very good at handling pressure, he is able to win thanks to his winning mentality, which is required to be at the top and master the situation. He has a fantastic talent. “

Binotto also compared the driver to some of Maranello’s best. “That is what distinguishes the talented from the good drivers. If you are talented you can get it all out of the car and put together a fantastic lap. That was the case with Michael [Schumacher] and Fernando [Alonso]. “

With the team’s trust in him and vice versa, Leclerc will undoubtedly bring his magic back on track in 2022; this time with a potential championship winner.
