And so, the time has come for Daniel Ricciardo and the McLaren Formula 1 team to part ways. The split was a long-time coming. And despite both parties committing to fulfilling their three-year agreement, there was an uneasiness around the “confidence” they portrayed.

Things were, of course, exasperated by Oscar Piastri’s public snub to not drive for Alpine next year, with rumors and unconfirmed reports emerging that the 21-year-old Australian will replace countryman Ricciardo, 33, in the team next year. But despite a pending legal battle between Alpine and McLaren for Piastri’s services for next year, the Ricciardo announcement all but confirmed that Piastri is the British team’s future driver.
