Monza’s legendary Parabolica is renamed “Curva Alboreto” after the late Michele Alboreto, whose successful motorsport career brought him three victories for Ferrari from 1984 to 1995.

In honor of Alboreto, the last corner of the Temple of Speed will be renamed on Saturday, September 11th – during the Italian Grand Prix weekend – on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of the Milanese driver during a car test at the Lausitzring.

The Parabolica is one of the most iconic corners in motorsport, its sweeping challenge leads to the Monza straight and through the finish line.

It is named after the Italian driver Alboreto who made his F1 debut in 1981 and finished second in the world championship in 1985 Monza 1988, below).

The corner will be named on the day of the second F1 sprint, when Alboreto’s widow Nadia and his family members compete with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, President of the Monza Circuit Giuseppe Redaelli and President of the Automobile Club d’Italia Sticchi Damiani.

The Italian Grand Prix and F1 Sprint will take place on September 5th after Zandvoort’s return to the F1 calendar, where Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen will continue their championship battle.
