Mission Winnow Out as Ferrari makes massive changes to its sponsorship hierarchy

Perez's dad reveals Leclerc's emotional phone call - "I would have loved my dad seeing me"

Since the curtain fell on the 2021 season, big changes have been taking place behind the doors of Scuderia Ferrari. The rather obvious change was the strange lack of Mission Winnow in Ferrari’s official team name for 2022 when the FIA revealed the list of teams competing in the potentially unpredictable season.

That said, the campaign led by Philip Morris International was no longer Ferrari’s title sponsor.

However, many expected that this shocking recall would only be a step backwards for the Swiss giants and potentially pave the way for returning sponsors Santander to take over as Ferrari’s new title partner. And this would have led Mission Winnow to continue to exist in F1 as a premium partner of Ferrari.

But to everyone’s surprise, none of the speculations turned out to be real. Instead, Mission Winnow has completely disappeared from Ferrari’s sponsorship list. In addition to MW, many other partner brands have also left the Maranello outfit.

Ferrari’s sponsor list starts a new story

F1 journalist Joe Saward recently claimed that Ferrari may not be promoting Santander as the team’s official title partner. And that prediction actually came alive! Ferrari has put Santander and a technology company called Velas in the “premium partner” category next to Shell.

On the flip side, the Reds have also removed some brands from their sponsorship list; Mission Winnow, UPS, Sissy and Palantir. The driver pictures were also revised in the latest Ferrari update.

In the driver pictures, both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are now wearing racing clothing in which the Mission Winnow logo is not embedded next to the Ferrari logo. These are clear indications that Ferrari has figured out its sponsorship hierarchy over the course of the upcoming campaign.

Overall, most of the changes are over and only one remains – title partner. The title partner category is vacant and there is a very good chance that Ferrari will announce its successor for Mission Winnow soon before the start of the 2022 season. But who will they be?
