Mick Schumacher inherited one major trait from dad Michael, claims ex-Ferrari boss | F1 | Sports

Mick Schumacher has inherited dad Michael’s “work ethic” according to the former Ferrari boss Ross Brawn. Although Brawn admits Mick differs from Schumacher in some areas, the ex-team principal suggests he is “extremely capable of improvement”.

Speaking to Sport1, Brawn explained: “He’s different from his father, who was always immediately on the limit. Mick needs a little longer but, in the end, he also won titles in the junior classes.

“He is very talented, has 100 per cent inherited his father’s work ethic and is extremely capable of improvement. That is crucial.” Mick Schumacher’s F1 future is still at risk after Haas team boss Guenther Steiner claimed it was 50/50 over whether the young German would remain in the squad next year.

Steiner adds that Schumacher “lacks consistency” and would need to deliver stronger performances to ensure he gets a seat for 2023. However, the youngster has enjoyed some highlights with his first points finish at the British Grand Prix back in July.

Steiner has claimed Schumacher has done some “very good races” this season as he continues his F1 development. However, the Austrian claimed Schumacher had to “take it forward” as the team wanted to move on from the “status quo”.

Steiner then asked directly why Haas had not committed to Schumacher with a new deal. He responded: “Because we want to wait to see if that’s the best decision, for the team to re-sign Mick.

“As I said before, he’s in the same position as all the other drivers on the market. We just want to try to make the best decision for the team’s future. We don’t know yet what you’re looking for and this takes time. If we would know what you’re looking for, we would have made the decision.”
