The F1 legend won the title in Istanbul after Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber collided while Hamilton was promoted to the lead. Hamilton used the # 1 MP4-25A chassis to claim victory over teammate Jenson Button, and the car will have a price estimate of $ 5-7 million. It is the first time that a Formula 1 car driven by Hamilton has been offered for sale on the open market. The British Grand Prix auction will take place on Saturday 17th July. Sprint qualifying in Formula 1 will take place on the same day.

RM Sotheby’s, who hosted the auction, called the chance to buy a racing car from the sport’s most successful driver “an unrepeatable opportunity given the scarcity of the model.” The car is being sold by an unnamed private collector, but not by Hamilton or McLaren and McLaren Heritage will drive the car for the buyer, with around eight people and several days of preparation for operation. The original Bridgestone tires have been replaced with Avon rubber.
Felix Archer, a car specialist for auctioneers and Formula 1 partner RM Sotheby’s, told Reuters that it was amazing for buyers to have a piece of his history. He added, “It’s going to appeal to someone who either wants it as a collector’s item or wants to literally drive and sit where Lewis and Jenson sat and twirl it around on the track. I think there is someone out there for a Formula 1 car from Lewis Hamilton. It’s a true work of art, a piece of history. This is from a time when the engines were still screaming V8s and it’s being driven angrily across the track. “Archer said the rating brought it into the range of cars, which were driven by the seven-time German world champion Michael Schumacher and the late Brazilian Ayrton Senna. A Ferrari F1 car driven by Schumacher in 2002 was sold in Abu Dhabi for $ 6.65 million in 2019.
