Lewis Hamilton was spotted in his Pagani Zonda despite promising to drive only electric vehicles

Lewis Hamilton discovered in his Pagani Zonda despite promising to drive only electric vehicles

As a Ferrari F1 enthusiast since the mid-1990s and not exactly Lewis Hamilton’s biggest fan, it would be pretty easy for me to criticize him for failing to deliver on the promise he made last year. As some of you will recall, the seven-time champion told Reuters in a September 2020 interview of his desire to be greener in order to offset the massive carbon footprint of Formula 1 cars.

Aside from a vegan lifestyle and selling his private jet, Hamilton wants to be driven to and from airports in an electric vehicle. In addition, he told Reuters, “I no longer drive any of the cars I own. I only drive my (electric Mercedes) EQC.” As another zero-emission vehicle, it also uses a Smart EQ ForTwo from an otherwise petrol-guzzling fleet. Speaking of which, he was recently spotted in his one-of-a-kind Pagani Zonda 760 LH.

Formula 1 is taking a three-week vacation until the Belgian Grand Prix, which is scheduled for August 29, so that Hamilton can enjoy a few days of vacation. As in previous years, Monaco appears to be his destination as this isn’t the first time paparazzi have caught him driving his AMG-powered supercar. Technically, Hamilton calls Monaco his home, despite having an extensive real estate portfolio.

Now for this 760 LH. He previously described his Zonda as “terrible to drive! It’s the best sounding car I own but the worst handling. I got it in the manual because I didn’t like the Tiptronic version.”

In Hamilton’s defense, his 7.3 liter V12 naturally aspirated engine doesn’t drive the miles as we’re pretty sure he barely gets a chance to drive it given his busy schedule. The 760 hp super sports car based on the 760 RS, which is considered the street-legal Zonda R, once again attracted attention in Monaco.

Yes, maybe he shouldn’t have made that promise last year, especially since a lot of people look up to him. On the other hand, we would also be tempted to drive it with a Pagani in the garage, even if Monaco’s busy streets are not exactly ideal for exploiting the enormous performance potential of the super sports car.
