Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has tested positive for Covid-19 after returning home after the season after testing in Abu Dhabi.

Leclerc, who had also been infected with the virus in January, and teammate Carlos Sainz had appeared at the test for Ferrari to try out the new 18-inch Pirelli tires that the team ran on a mule wagon.

“[Charles] tested positive for COVID-19, ”Ferrari tweeted on Thursday. “In accordance with the protocols required by the FIA and the team, Charles was tested on his return from Abu Dhabi. He is currently fine, has mild symptoms and will self-isolate at home. “

It comes after Leclerc finished P10 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a result that dropped him from P5 to P7 in the Drivers’ Championship.

That meant he traded places with teammate Sainz, who finished his first season with Ferrari in P5 after finishing third in the Yas Marina race – Sainz finished the season with four podiums over Leclerc.
