Lando Norris wonders why Ferrari is still underrated

Lando Norris wonders that people still think Ferrari has a “terrible car” and “more should be expected” of the team.

Ferrari and McLaren battle it out for third place in the constructors’ championship, with Scuderia narrowly trailing their closest rivals after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Norris finds himself behind the two Ferrari drivers on the grid for the French Grand Prix and thinks that the general assessment of the Prancing Horse needs to be raised compared to McLaren.

“The last two weekends they have been extremely fast because they have a very good car,” said Norris.

“Many underestimate them for some reason and still think they have a terrible car. And [they] Don’t expect anything, but Ferrari has improved a lot since last season.

“They’re one of the best cars in certain types of corners and they’re extremely fast. Nowhere are they particularly bad, they are neat on the straights and still fast in the corners.

“People should expect more from them. We don’t want to expect to be miles ahead of them this weekend or anything. We know that they are very fast. “

Regarding his qualifying result, Norris added: “Of course we hope to be a little closer than we were.

“But it was more that we were a little slower than we had hoped, and not that they were much faster than we expected.

“[It’s] no surprise on our part. Hard, of course, because we want to be ahead of them. But we have a good opportunity [on Sunday] to try to take back some positions and get some points.

“It was a trend. I think Baku and Monaco were expected because these are the kind of corners, slow speed, where they are extremely competitive.

“I’m sure we can get it back and we will do some better things in the future.”
