In a mature achievement contrary to his age, Norris managed to place his car exactly where the Mercedes driver didn’t want it. Hamilton struggled to get past despite his clear pace and tire advantage.
“You couldn’t hold him back against Lewis in a Mercedes who was obviously much faster than us. But I tried, you know, I tried well, just not quite, ”Norris told Sky Sports F1.
With two top 4 placements, Norris is third in the drivers’ standings with 27 points. It’s another strong start to the season for the young driver who was in the same position after the first two races in Austria last year.
With the next race at Portimao in just a week, he hopes his promising run of form continues as McLaren chases his first F1 win since Jenson Button won the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix.
