Lewis Hamilton recently put a new Mercedes deal on paper that sees him on the grid until the end of the 2023 season. Unfortunately, his team-mate Valtteri Bottas runs out at the end of the season and has to sign a new one.

When asked by the Brackley team if he would agree to the announcement of Lewis’ deal at the Austrian Grand Prix, Bottas gave an answer that matched his factual personality.

The seven-time world champion has agreed to a contract extension by two years and will thus make a significant contribution to how Mercedes gets into the next season with the new regulations.
The Finn, whose future is clouded by uncertainty, had little to say about the new deal signed by Hamilton. Team boss Toto Wolff was asked how Valtteri had reacted to the news.
Wolff said that Valtteri said, “Well, I don’t give a shit.”

The second Mercedes seat is available
With one of the drivers secured for the next two years, the seven-time master constructor needs to turn his attention to who will drive alongside Hamilton in the next season.
Bottas let his contract expire at the end of the season and no new contract is offered yet. Meanwhile, George Russell is another contender for the Silver Arrows in Williams. And as part of the Mercedes junior program, he is certainly one of the favorites.

In fact, his contract with Russell with the Grove-based team expires at the end of the season and is sure to have his eye on this season position.
