How Vettel revived himself in the Monaco F1 race

It was not an easy start to the 2021 season for Sebastian Vettel and his Aston Martin Formula 1 team, as the results are not coming and the rivals are doing well. In Monaco, however, the German recovered in style.

After qualifying in eighth, Vettel crossed the finish line in fifth. Both numbers marked his best performance of the season so far.

In qualifying, he just made it from the first quarter to 15th place after playing with just one set of tires. He finished ninth in the second quarter before taking a better spot in the third quarter to finish eighth on the grid – and take right behind troubled Lewis Hamilton.

It was only the second time this year that the four-time world champion has made it into the third quarter after starting tenth in Portugal earlier this month.

“It was tight in the first quarter, we only used one sentence, that was a bit risky,” he said after the meeting.
