Hamilton: I don’t understand why Ferrari never called

Hamilton looks at Ferrari

Last Sunday, against a lot of adversity, Lewis Hamilton won his 100th Formula 1 race at the Sochi Autodrom in Russia. Another item was on the bucket list, but what about driving for Ferrari?

In an interview with Sky Italia after the 2021 Russian Grand Prix, the inevitable question arose: Why hasn’t Hamilton put on the red racing overalls yet?

Ferrari is the longest-serving team in Formula 1, the most successful and glamorous is the goal every racing driver dreams of. Hamilton, who has seen it all and done it in the top division, has never driven for Scuderia, however.

“When I came to Monza for many years and walked next to the fans … I heard them say: Come to Ferrari!” He said. “It warmed my heart, but it’s amazing that I’ve never driven for Ferrari in so many years.”

Admitting that every F1 driver wants to drive a Ferrari F1 car, Hamilton said, “Because it’s a dream for everyone, a goal to be achieved.

“It was never really possible and I don’t understand exactly why,” he continued, confused as to why the call from Ferrari never came.

However, Hamilton has had great success with Mercedes, rewriting the F1 record books over and over again, beating Ferrari and its drivers in the process. And he said he intended to continue to do so.

“I wish you all the best and will continue to keep you from winning the World Cup in the near future,” he said with a laugh. “I’ve seen photos of their drivers and red is always red.

“I have a couple of Ferraris at home. I can drive it, but not the Ferrari F1, ”complained the seven-time F1 champion and admitted to being a fan of the famous Scuderia.

Ferrari had two British Formula 1 world champions, Mike Hawthorn (1958) and John Surtess (1964), while Nigel Mansell, il Leone was very much loved by Tifosi, he won three Grand Prix in red.

Italian media have often speculated, even dreamed of being the country’s leading racing magazine, about Hamilton, which Autosprint did in one of their editions a few years ago:
