Lewis Hamilton has been in Formula 1 for fifteen seasons, but Mercedes is only his second team. The seven-time world champion made his debut at McLaren in 2007 and moved to Mercedes in 2013, where he continues to drive today.

In all those years in Formula 1, Hamilton never drove with an engine other than the Mercedes engine. The Briton clearly has a strong bond with the German engine supplier, but has also shown his love for Ferrari several times. There were even rumors of a move to the Italian team, but rumors never got beyond.

In Corriere dello Sport, Hamilton illustrates his relationship with Italy and Ferrari. “When I came to Monza, I walked next to the fans for years … I could tell them ‘Come to Ferrari!’ It made my heart warm. It’s unbelievable that I’ve never driven for Ferrari in all these years. ” Hamilton believes that driving for Ferrari is a dream for every driver. “It is a goal to achieve, but it was never really possible. I will never know exactly why.”

Title prevented for Ferrari

Hamilton now seems to have come to terms with never driving for the Italian team in Formula 1. “I wish you the best and will continue to prevent you from winning the World Cup in the near future.” Hamilton has something else that is comforting. “I have a couple of Ferraris at home. I can drive them, but not the Ferrari F1.”
