Five breathtaking surprises at the Bonhams Festival of Speed Sale

Ferrari F40

Estimate: £ 800,000-1.2 million

Few Ferrari road cars are as seductive and prestigious as the F40, the first production car to travel at 200 mph and the last Ferrari to be signed by Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988. More than 1,300 of these iconic supercars were built, but only 78 inches of them were official British cars and of those only 20 were the preferred non-catalytic converters, of which this 1990 example is one.

The twin-turbo V8 car was bought new from the well-known racing driver and collector Sir Paul Vestey. It has had four owners in 31 years, most recently since 2015. It has been serviced every year since then, most recently with new timing belts, although it has only been driven once on the Isle of Man in the past six years. In total, the car has driven 11,000 miles.

Price? Bonhams expects to raise £ 800,000-1.2 million if the gavel drops at its Festival of Speed auction on Friday, July 9th.
