Binotto recently announced that he wanted to miss some of the remaining races this season to see how feasible it was to lead the team remotely.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s race in Turkey, Ferrari F1 Sports Director Laurent Mekies confirmed that Binotto will be staying in Maranello for the weekend.
“Mattia always approached his role in an innovative way and tried to think outside the box,” said Mekies.
“He has developed a way of working that has the flexibility to manage priorities as efficiently as possible: he had adopted this approach as technical director and now applied it more widely as team leader.
“At first glance, it might seem strange not to see him physically in the briefings or on the pit wall, but he’ll be using all the latest communication technology so his voice and input are loud and clear to everyone inside and out on the team.”
