However, the dancing stallion hopes to recover in 2021. The FIA has restricted the modifications for the cars due to upcoming regulatory changes. Hence, the Maranello-based outfit doesn’t have to correct its mistakes.
However, they were allowed to make either two minor changes or one major, and they chose the latter. The team understand that the rear of the car is detrimental to its performance and they believe it requires attention.

“We’re going to renew the rear of the car. We believe this is the area where there is more room for development between chassis and aerodynamics in 2021, ”remarked Simone Resta, chassis engineer at Ferrari.

The main reason Sebastian Vettel lost the car is the weak rear end of the car. However, they have little time to work on their design and that won’t be the end of their problems. The power unit was a cause for concern for the scarlet outfit and is sure to influence the design.
“In addition, the rear of the car will be affected by regulatory changes introduced by the FIA to reduce aerodynamic loads and limit tire loads.
“As a result of that [floor] Changes, all teams lose a number of downforce points and it will be important to work on recovering as much as possible.
“All of this leads us to believe that the most important area in which development stamps need to be issued is the back,” Resta told an Italian publication, Autosprint.

Ferrari is realistic about the 2021 season
Simone Resta understands that although he can fix the stern, the problems can persist. To make their dangers worse, there is nothing they can do at the beginning of the season.
The time limit and the lack of design freedom therefore prevent him from spreading his wings in relation to the chassis.
“If the [F1] The nose structure stays the same, I may be able to design a new front wing, but my creative autonomy will still be limited.
“All these freezes and restrictions make us believe that it will be difficult for us to adequately restore the gap we now have with the leaders in a single season,” commented the chassis engineer.

Hence, at this moment, all they should focus on is perfecting their car and developing strategies that might work for a change.
