When Schumacher was at Ferrari, he was to be expected. In 2003 the German won his sixth world title, one of the reasons why Michael dominated this year was the powerful engine, the F2003-GA. Now in 2021, the Ferrari engine was recently sold at auction.

The F2003-GA engines were auctioned off at Collecting Cars in the UK. The title-winning power unit received 66 bids and was sold on December 4 for 36,000 euros or the equivalent of 40,700 US dollars.

It has a 3.0 liter V10 with an output of 845 horsepower at 18,300 rpm and the engine is made of aluminum and magnesium to make the car as light as possible.

Schumacher’s sixth world champion in Formula 1

The German was the reigning world champion at the time and hoped to keep his title in 2003. Schumacher kept his word, but the battle for the championship was intense, to say the least.

The Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka won the title and it was a three-way battle between McLaren, Williams and the Italian team. When the checkered flag finished, Rubens Barrichello and Schumacher won the constructors’ championship for the Maranello team. The day got even better for Michael as he won his sixth world title with the result and broke Juan Manuel Fangio’s 46-year-old record.

A year later Michael won seven world championship titles and set his own record. But in 2020 his title record was broken by Lewis Hamilton at the Turkish Grand Prix.
