Aside from the fact that Leclerc is fast, there is one other aspect that has often amazed his driver-coach Jock Clear. During a podcast with host Tom Clarkson, the Briton revealed one of Leclerc’s greatest strengths in Formula 1.

It goes without saying that “mental strength” is definitely one of the most outstanding factors of Leclerc, the two-time Grand Prix winner.
“Mental strength. When you say, ‘OK, get to the point, you know? These are the drivers I’ve worked with. Put your finger on that one element of this driver that really hits … Mental strength, sure at Charles. Mentally pretty amazing, ”he said while starring on the latest podcast episode of F1: Beyond the Grid.

There are certain cases that prove this statement by Clear. The biggest of them all is his race at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2019. Just one day after the death of his best friend Anthoine Hubert on the same track, Leclerc drove an outstanding race for the Grand Prix and finally dedicated his victory to the late Frenchman.
Driving for Ferrari is intimidating: Sure
Clear felt that driving can be quite intimidating for a team like Ferrari and so it happened to Sebastian Vettel who then joined the team after 4 titles. As an inexperienced driver, however, Leclerc managed it efficiently and showed little sign of fear.
“It’s easy to forget, simply because he is who he is and has done what he has done for the last 2-3 years. It’s easy to forget that joining Ferrari at this age as an official Ferrari driver must be intimidating, doesn’t it? My word! It must be intimidating, ”he said.

“It’s intimidating for Sebastian Vettel when he comes here with 4 world championships. That’s intimidating stuff and how it has held up pretty much from day one. “
Overall, Leclerc is still evolving as a racing driver and looking very much to fight for the title. Therefore, all eyes will be on Ferrari, who are pushing for a successful start to the crucial 2022 season. But can they offer Leclerc with the hope of fighting Mercedes and Red Bull?
