Ferrari announces the start date for the Formula 1 car in 2022

Ferrari's Formula 1 car and 2022 engine will feature a lot of innovation

Ferrari F1 boss Mattia Binotto said in December the team plans to launch its new car in mid-February before pre-season testing begins.

But Ferrari has now formalized its plans by announcing on social media that it will unveil the 2022 model on February 17, a month from today.

Ferrari is the second team to announce when it will launch its car ahead of the new season, after Aston Martin, who announced last week that they will unveil the AMR22 on February 10th.

Ferrari is yet to reveal a name for its 2022 car, but the team will step into the new season to build on an encouraging 2021 season.

Ferrari’s new car will enjoy its first extended test following its launch on February 23, when pre-season testing begins at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

The three-day test will be followed by three more days of racing from March 10th to 12th in Bahrain, where the season opener will also take place on March 20th.

Ferrari are already trying to extend Sainz’s contract after an impressive first season at Maranello, with talks set to take place over the winter. His current contract expires at the end of the 2022 season.
