The 2021 United States Grand Prix is just around the corner and the excitement is growing – so who better to get together with Tom Clarkson and Damon Hill in this week’s episode of F1 Nation and preview the latest chapter in the title fight than Mario Andretti?
The 1978 world champion and winner of four Indycar titles, the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500, is still the last American to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix (1978). In the latest F1 Nation podcast, he’s looking forward to the US GP at the Circuit of The Americas this weekend – with the event returning after a hiatus in 2020.

As well as talking about the event this weekend, the racing legend debates 1996 champion Damon Hill, whether Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton are better equipped to win – and later claim the title – in Austin and choose his Stars of the 2021 grid.
There’s a lot more, including Mario on IndyCar’s youngest race winner Colton Herta – and why the American has what it takes to drive F1 – as well as memories of his 1978 championship win when he drove Damon’s father Graham in the Indy 500 and what it took to Tame the machines of the 70s against the F1 titans of the day.
