His most memorable years came with Scuderia Ferrari. Although the German won five of his seven world championships with the Italian team, he did not win a title with them in the first four seasons. During this time, his Northern Irish teammate was Eddie Irvine.
Recently, Irvine remembered his Ferrari days and applauded the talents of his then teammate Schumacher.

Eddie Irvine believes that nobody looks good when they face Michael Schumacher
The Northern Irishman drove for four seasons with Schumacher in a Ferrari from 1996 to 1999. During his stint at Ferrari, he took all four of his career race wins and 22 of his 26 career podiums.
While these statistics are impressive, Schumacher’s size often overshadows them. The Northern Irishman often played second fiddle to the German in Ferrari, an aspect he has recently taken up.
He mentioned that he was lucky enough to switch to Ferrari when the German was already considered something special. Irvine said, “Obviously you never look very good when you go up against someone like Michael Schumacher. But I was lucky in a way, because when I got there, Schumacher was considered special.
“The guys that Schumacher faced much earlier in his career were dropped because people didn’t know how good Michael was at the time.”

He mentioned how great it was to watch Schumacher at work while believing he was the best driver ever. “Being Schumacher’s team-mate was great in some ways because I worked with who I think is still the greatest driver of all time. He dominated his teammates massively, ”said Irvine.

“Of course he got older and wasn’t quite as fast anymore, but in the beginning it was amazing to see a man working at such a high level. From this point of view it was an honor. “
Although Irvine did not celebrate a world title with Schumacher, he still had the best place to experience great things. Irvine switched to Jaguar Racing in 2000, in the same year Schumacher won his first world title and his third career title with Ferrari.
