The Formula 1 community is still unsure whether Lewis Hamilton will return to the sport after the events of the dramatic Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It is not surprising that many are speculating who could replace the 7-time world champion at Mercedes.

The world of racing is still wondering if it will see the Knight on the grid in 2022. But some within the racing community think McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo could replace the Briton.

According to a Top Gear article, the Australian rider has a 6-1 chance of landing the Brackley squad. What is more surprising, however, is that Hamilton’s former team-mate Valtteri Bottas also has the same odds as Ricciardo. Given that the Finn has just moved to Alfa Romeo after the end of the 2021 season, it’s pretty astonishing that he has such high chances in the battle for a Mercedes seat.

Who is the second driver for the Silver Arrows
After Bottas left the team led by Toto Wolff, the Brackley team brought up-and-coming Mercedes driver George Russell. The Briton was with Williams for the first three years of his F1 career, but drove one-time for the Silver Arrows at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix when he had to stand in for Hamilton when he signed Covid-19.
