After the worst season since 1980 last year, Ferrari made considerable progress in 2021.
Ferrari is currently in fourth place in the constructors’ championship, just five points behind McLaren.
The Italian team had the advantage last time around the Circuit de Barcelona, outperforming their Woking-based rivals in the last sector, which is mostly made up of slow corners.
Given Ferrari’s impressive pace in the final sector in Spain, it is expected to go well this weekend in Monaco due to its slow nature.
Binotto assessed his team’s chances ahead of the Monaco GP and said, “I think it’s a very specific track. Yes, a good downforce here in the last sector obviously makes you feel good and puts you in a good mood when you go to Monaco because you sure prefer to be fast in sector three in Barcelona.
“At the same time, Monaco has many special features when it comes to setting up the car and preparing tires for qualifying. The cars in Monaco are so different that it could change the picture a little. We need to focus now on continuing to learn from what we have learned this weekend. Try to put together the best possible plan, the best possible setup for Monaco and we will try to maximize our performance there.

“But yeah, I would hold it carefully just to see how it goes there with very different cars and setups.”
This weekend’s race in Monte Carlo is Charles Leclerc’s third F1 race on home soil.
The Monegasque haven’t scored any points in their last two home races but they are confident of having a competitive weekend.

“But I’m really looking forward to Monaco, obviously it’s a very special weekend for me. And one weekend I haven’t had much luck in the past so I hope we can have a good weekend as a team, ”added Leclerc.
“And also the third sector. We were pretty competitive here so of course it’s different but we seem to have a strong car so hopefully we can be competitive at home.
