The Italian stated that the car’s chassis was in production, but the engine was still under development. He mentioned that the unit needs more time and attention before going into production.

Ferrari team boss mentions the biggest roadblock in their car of 2022
When providing an update on Auto 2022, Binotto emphasized that they need to find solutions for their engine. The Ferrari team currently has the slowest engine in the field in terms of horsepower.
“The chassis of the 2022 car has been defined and is already in production. We are still working on the aerodynamics, but above all on the engine. We are looking for all solutions to increase the performance of the engine and still ensure sufficient reliability, ”said Binotto.

But the Ferrari team boss is optimistic that he will find solutions to their engine problems before the start of the 2022 season.
“We’re working hard on the 2022 engine. Especially the hybrid part, the materials used and many other aspects, ”says Mattia.

“I said at the beginning that this weekend could also be interesting because it is a different format than the normal one, so on Friday the quails have only an hour to prepare and go straight to the attack. “This is interesting because it endangers the overall balance and the performance of the teams,” said the Ferrari team boss.

“On the other hand, I’m generally pretty sure that we can go into it in detail. I think there are things that can be improved. They are open to discussions with F1, FIA and other teams and we can only do so after the three races and when the full experiment can be completed, ”said Binotto of his assessment of the sprint qualifications.
