Ferrari will use the Amazon Web Services cloud platform for its entire automotive company on and off the racetrack. This includes his road vehicles, GT racing cars and the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team.
Ferrari and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced their global collaboration. Amazon Web Services becomes Ferrari’s official cloud, machine learning and artificial intelligence provider. The collaboration not only includes Ferrari road vehicles, but also extends to GT racing cars, Ferrari Challenge vehicles and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. The collaboration will help accelerate the pace of innovation across the Ferrari organization, according to a statement released by AWS. Ferrari will leverage AWS services and infrastructure in AWS Europe (Milan) to streamline the design and testing of its cars.
Ferrari will rely on AWS’s advanced analytics, machine learning, computation, storage and database capabilities to accelerate the development of its performance and racing cars. The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud with high-performance computing helps Ferrari with complex simulations that test vehicle performance under a variety of driving conditions and racing scenarios. AWS Graviton2-based instances offer up to 40% better price performance than comparable x86-based instances. In addition, Ferrari would leverage the extensive AWS HPC resources to run faster simulations on the road and on the racetrack while developing its cars. This would give engineers the agility to experiment with new designs and strategies. AWS Analytics and Amazon SageMaker, the service that helps developers and data scientists quickly develop, train, and deploy machine learning as they transition from simulation to assembly of their road vehicles.
In addition, Scuderia Ferrari will also use AWS to introduce a new digital platform for fan engagement. The company claims to launch a mobile app that will appeal to hundreds of millions of fans worldwide with exclusive, personalized content. Scuderia Ferrari will also use AWS computing containers and media services for their new digital fan engagement platform for Tifosi. The mobile app is intended to inform, educate and entertain. With the help of AWS, Tifosi can expect a lot more from Scuderia to deliver an immersive Ferrari experience.
