Which driver has won the teammate battle this F1 season so far?

The 2021 formula 1 Season has reached halftime. The second half of the race in Belgium is set to begin next week with the teams coming back from the summer break. The drivers fought against each other and interesting results were achieved in team-mate battles this season.

Here’s a comparison of how the teammates fared against each other after 11 races.

TEAMS:

1. Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton outperformed his team-mate Valtteri Bottas 9 out of 11 times in both the main race and qualifying. Hamilton currently has 195 points compared to Bottas ‘108. Lewis’ best race result is 1st and Bottas only came 2nd this season. The Briton has not finished a single race this season, but Valtteri Bottas has had 3 DNFs.

2. Red Bull

This is another one-sided comparison with Verstappen, who dominated the main 9-2 race against Perez. Max also leads the qualifying battle 10-1. Both drivers have won a race this season and Max has 2 DNFs behind Perez ‘1. Max is currently 2nd in the drivers’ standings with 187 points. Perez also scored a whopping 104 points, his best career with half a season to go.

3. Ferrari

Ferrari experienced an extremely close teammate fight in the first half of the season. Sainz is 6-5 behind in the main race comparison. Charles Leclerc continued his qualifying form this season. He has left Sainz behind 8 times, but is currently 3 points behind Sainz in the drivers’ standings.

4. McLaren

Another one-sided fight is McLaren’s Lando Norris against Daniel Ricciardo. Norris dominated the entire line-up, let alone his teammates. Norris wins the main race 9-2, with 1 being the time Lando was eliminated from the race. Ricciardo loses the qualifying battle with 3: 8.

5. Alpine

Both drivers for Alpine are only separated by 1 point in the championship standings. Esteban Ocon took his first race win in Hungary and is currently leading the race 6-5. However, Ocon wasn’t up to date on Saturdays, where Alonso leads 6-5. Alonso has scored 38 points, 1 less than his teammate Esteban.

6. AlphaTauri

Yuki Tsunoda also lost the teammate fight against Pierre Gasly this season. Gasly has overtaken his teammate every time and scored the game 11-0. Tsunoda has outperformed Gasly in 3 out of 11 races. Gasly scored 50 points compared to Yuki’s 18.

7. Aston Martin

The Aston Martin F1 team didn’t have the season they expected as a race point after last year’s performance. Sebastian Vettel scored 12 points more than Lance Stroll in his first season at Aston Martin. However, Lance did better than Vettel in 7 races. But Vettel made it to two podium places this season, one of which was canceled due to the technical regulations.

8. Williams

The Williams team was able to get its first points in 2.5 years in Hungary, which is mainly led by George Russell in the teammate comparison. Russell managed to overtake Latifi in all 11 of 11 races. However, Latifi has recovered on 3 Sundays and does better than Russell. Latifi also collected his first Formula 1 points this season.

9. Alfa Romeo

Antonio Giovinazzi has overtaken his team-mate Kimi Räikkönen in 7 of 11 races. However, Kimi turned things around and left his teammates behind six times. Both drivers are not quite the point earners with Kimi with 2 points and Antonio with a single point this season. Both drivers run the risk of losing their places next season.

10. Haas

Haas was the clear review of the Formula 1 season in 2021. They were surpassed by every team on the track. This is the first F1 season for both Haas drivers. So far, Mick Schumacher has prevailed in the fight against Nikita Mazepin. Mick outperformed his teammate with 9-2 on both Sundays and Saturdays. However, neither have scored any points this season.
