Several reports and critics have mentioned that Aston Martin tricked the tire pressure of Lance Stroll’s car in Baku. Pirelli’s explanation of Baku’s tire failure also suggested the teams may have tricked the tire pressure that caused the blowout.
Otmar said: “We did long stints. I hope this will silence the critics who say we did something dishonest with the tires. We don’t have that, we never have and we never will, ”said Otmar.

We know exactly what to do and have proven it again: Szafnauer

“We know exactly what to do and have proven it again. There is a new technical guideline with higher tire pressures, ”says Otmar.
“We kept it up and still did a very good job with the tires. Maybe you should take a closer look at some of our competitors who are more likely to turn back than we do, ”said Szafnauer.

Aston Martin implemented their strategies successfully as both drivers ended up in the top 10 after starting from outside of the points. The performance and tire management of the two drivers convinced Szafnauer.
He said: “Lance finished the points with a wonderful run of 19 and Seb finished 9th with the right pace, good strategy and brilliant overtaking maneuvers.
“We didn’t benefit from the fact that others were eliminated before us, we had to work hard for it. In the end it was a great race for both drivers, ”said Otmar.
