Vettel of Aston Martin F1 describes Hungary's vote on anti-LGBTQ + law as "embarrassing" |  F1

Last month the Hungarian government passed a new law to curb discussion of homosexuality and transgender issues in schools, with Prime Minister Viktor Orban planning a referendum on the law.

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton criticized the Hungarian government on Instagram today and described the legislation as “cowardly”.

As revealed on Twitter, Vettel’s trainers have a rainbow flag on them for this weekend – the flag that stands for the LGBTQ + community.

At the driver press conference, Vettel was asked to give his opinion on Hungary’s decision to hold a vote.

“Everyone can do what they want, and that’s what it’s about, I think,” said Vettel. “So I find it embarrassing for a country that is in the European Union to have to vote or have such laws as part of its – whatever, no constitution, but … and I can’t understand why you have a hard time seeing that everyone should be free to do what they want, to love whoever they like and to do so according to the motto “live and let live”.

“So it is obviously not up to us to make the law, it is not our job, but I think just to express support for obviously those who are affected by it.”

It’s not the first time Vettel has spoken about such problems after defending himself at UEFA after it refused to light up the Munich stadium in rainbow colors for Germany’s Euro 2020 game against Hungary.
