UPDATE: Aston Martin confirms Lance Stroll's health after massive 12G impact at the Mexican GP

Lance Stroll showed the first red flag of the Mexican GP weekend when he crashed his Aston Martin on the last corner. What looked like a massive crash to the Canadian soon provoked a sigh of relief as he got out of the car. Now that both he and the car are under scrutiny, the team is giving its fans a much-needed update.

Aston Martin’s update read, “Lance suffered a 12g impact, has been checked precautionary and all of his vital signs and x-rays are normal.” The team added that Stroll has passed FIA checks and is fit for racing.

Although the driver would start from the end of the grid on Sunday, the crash cost the green car. While it’s nothing that Aston Martin engineers can’t fix, it looks like a likely pit start to the driver.

Nevertheless, it is advisable for both the car and its driver to get a good night’s sleep and a little rest.

Lance Stroll starts at the back of the grid at the Mexican GP

At the Mexican GP it is raining aggregate penalties, because Stroll is one of five drivers to receive a penalty. Although George Russell receives a starting penalty of five places, Stroll accompanies Tsunoda, Norris and Ocon at the end of the grid.

Stroll had been looking forward to the weekend. “The goal is to qualify well and fight for points in the race. It’s a pretty short lap in Mexico, but the long straights offer plenty of slipstream and exciting races. “

Even though qualifying didn’t go so well, the battle for points is still open. It’s a long way to P10, but good strategy and “exciting races” make it less impossible.

Stroll’s Aston Martin is one of two Mercedes PUs at the rear. Now that the car with the new engine has had an accident, this means additional work for the engineers. But with a good car in hand, which will hopefully be repaired in time, Stroll has a chance to fight for points in the Autodromo.
