"Then you can take it"

The Formula 1 calendar 2022 was presented on Friday. The calendar contains a record number of 23 grands prix. The team bosses are divided about the number of races, but Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer likes the busy calendar.

Record calendar in 2022

With a number of recurring Grands Prix such as Japan and Australia and the addition of Miami, the 2022 calendar will look significantly different than the 2021 calendar. Also, the calendar will have one more race than this year. Szafnauer is just as happy as AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost about the increasing calendar.

“Well, we’ve been looking at this for a while and we knew this would happen. I agree with Franz: It’s nice that we have 23 countries or 23 races that want us to come and present Formula 1. ” said Szafnauer according to FormulaRapida.net.

However, the Romanian American thinks of the traveling people of all teams and the organization. “We have procedures in place both at the factory and at the racetrack to make your travel as comfortable as possible, including sometimes changing employees and some other organizational changes at the factory.”

Szafnauer says the triple headers are more doable these days based on the experience the team has gained from previous triple headers. Still, he’d rather not see it on the calendar. “But they still weigh heavily on all of us.” Szafnauer knows one advantage of the two triple headers: “You can put up with one or two triple headers if you know that you won’t be driving until Christmas.”
