Lawrence Stroll, a partner in the Aston Martin F1 team, wants to part with the Canadian circuit.
If you’ve heard of Lawrence Stroll, you’ll know the man certainly has a dollar or two. Stroll Sr. is not satisfied with owning the Mont Tremblant Circuit in Canada and funding son Lance’s racing career. He is also a co-owner of the Aston Martin F1 team and chairman of the Aston Martin auto company. However, Stroll returns to the Mont-Tremblant circuit and has been with the company since 2000. During this time, extensive work and renovations were carried out. Now the circuit is for sale and that sale could include the Jim Russell Racing School.
The circuit has an interesting story
about CBRE
The circuit opened in 1964 and hosted two Canadian Grand Prix as well as IndyCar and ChampCar in 1968 and 1970. While no Grand Prix has been held since that race in 1970, the track has seen some major changes. The South African route designer Alan Wilson oversaw a redesign of the route shortly after the takeover of Stroll. Since then, the route has been surfaced again, widened and provided with new gravel traps and drainage areas. The route itself is on the banks of the Devils River and is neatly located between La Quimet and Lac Mercier. It is also very close to the Mont-Tremblant ski area.
A PDF sales brochure with the features and details of the circuit states that the offer period for the circuit ends on April 15th and there will certainly be many interested buyers. Given its location in Quebec’s tourist hotspot, there are many other places to explore nearby. Jim Russell Racing School, which may also be included in the sale, is known for providing professional tuition to aspiring racing drivers in Formula 2000 vehicles. So there is an added incentive for someone to put their hands in their pockets.
Short but sweet route has many improved facilities
about CBRE
The route itself is 4.27 km long and offers 15 curves and a new timekeeping tower with a press room for up to 200 people. An improved medical facility is also located on the circuit that meets FIA standards. Stroll deserves a lot of credit for turning the track’s fate around as it was in a rather shabby state at the time of purchase. Hopefully the new owners can keep the track as strong as Stroll has done.
