A relationship established upon Aston Martin’s return to Formula One after 61 years away has flourished, and staff from Cognizant are currently embedded within our Silverstone factory.

“Throughout that period, they’ve been getting to understand how we work with a lot of workshops and sessions, working closer and closer with us.
“They’re working throughout the company in so many areas. But from my side – the performance group, the data science and software side of things – they really understand what we do with our data.
“That’s about how we process, store, visualize and interpret it, as well as the data science.”
Cognizant has vast experience in Artificial Intelligence, and the benefit of it can be summarized as making ‘smarter decisions faster’.
Making data more accessible and available in real-time has obvious benefits for an F1 team, as it manages workflows such as car upgrade production or the flow of information from trackside back to the factory.

“For us, the AI machine-learning side of things is one of Cognizant’s specialties, and it’s something we’ve been getting more and more into over the last few years,” explains Tom.
“Their ability to get into that is huge compared to ours because of their resource, experience and understanding.
“It’s about communicating with their engineers, there’s a lot of online meetings, and even people working at the factory, to help them understand what we’re doing and using their skill-set to help us be more efficient.

“That’s where they’re getting more and more involved with us, it’s much more than just a sticker on the car.
“There’s a lot of support from Cognizant – and a real interest and hunger, too. They’re so keen to be involved in Formula One as it’s so exciting.
