Plans for a high-tech wind tunnel that will be part of Aston Martin’s new Formula 1 factory near Silverstone have been approved.

The latest application concerns an aerodynamic test facility consisting of a wind tunnel with associated machines, test tracks, ancillary offices and workshops.

The primary function of the wind tunnel, according to the application, is to test the design principles of the cars to ensure that they are as aerodynamic as possible.

Aston Martin currently has a facility on Top Station Road, Brackley, but is hoping to develop the new facility right on their doorstep.

They hope that the new wind tunnel will be completed at the same time as the new headquarters in August 2023.

Aston Martin hopes the new F1 Center will bring “significant benefits” to their performance on the track.

“This is a significant investment,” said Stroll. “It shows my belief in the team, confirms my ambition and confirms my belief in F1.”
