The United States Grand Prix featured plenty of atmosphere and a few new elements to its landscape in 2022, and this was captured in the photography throughout the weekend.

“Shooting from the top of the tower at COTA allows for a few different angles to play with.

“I really liked the long shadow created by the car which was helped by the late-running extended FP2 session and bright Texas sun.”

“Using a wide-open aperture, I’ve focused on Lance’s eyes as he prepares to go out for FP1.

“The front three-quarter angle works well here to capture some of the sponsors that are a bit trickier to get head-on or side-on.”

“Both Sebastian and Lance got into the Texas spirit and wore cowboy hats over the weekend.

“This was taken just prior to FP3 on Saturday morning as Seb entered the garage. I quite like the reflection of the overhead lighting, which draws you into the picture.”

“COTA has installed huge flags dotted around the track which adds another element for us photographers to think about.

“This is taken at the crest between Turns Nine and 10 during the evening qualifying session.”

“This is a slightly different shot taken from atop the tower, by leaning out and using the glass to create a reflection of the stars and stripes.”

“There are lots of different colors and elements to this image, including the AMR22 which stands out nicely here.”

“I took just before the cars headed to the grid on race day. Lance arrived a bit early to the garage and took a seat on the floor and listened to some music for a short while before he headed to his fifth position grid spot.”

“Both cars ran together for a short while during qualifying, just as the sun began to set which created a beautiful orange glow. The tower in the background and the large Texas flag add to this atmospheric shot.”

“What a fantastic last-lap fight between Seb and Kevin over what would become seventh at the end of the Grand Prix.

“I positioned myself at the back of parc ferme keeping an eye out for Seb – he parked just behind Kevin and had a chat before they both went to the weighbridge.”
