Serie A partners with Crypto.com for two new player awards and VAR incidents for global TV broadcasts

Lega Serie A named Crypto.com as the official “innovation and technology partner” on Thursday as part of a multi-year contract.

The top tier of Italian football made history last May when it became the world’s first sports league to partner with a cryptocurrency company.

Three months later, in this expansion agreement, Crypto.com will now be incorporated into any transmission that involves technology, such as: B. Video Assistant Referee (VAR), where the Referee Center bears the name of Crypto.com.

In the 2020/21 season, there were a total of 2,372 incidents that required VAR technology, according to the league. VAR interventions are included in Series A global broadcast, which reaches more than 1 billion people in 191 countries worldwide. Also included in the deal are two new Serie A awards that will award the season’s striker the goal of the month.

Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana NFT collections (non-fungible tokens) are also part of the deal and contribute to Crypto.com’s involvement in other sports such as UFC, Formula 1, Aston Martin’s F1 team and the Montreal Canadiens in the National at ice hockey league.
