Sebastian Vettel wants to see Mick Schumacher in a more powerful car in 2022 so that the young German can prove his skills. Vettel believes Schumacher did the “best job” he could to pull the unrivaled Haas into the race a few times during the season.

In an interview with Autosport, the four-time world champion said:

“He did an incredible job with such a bad car, getting through Q2 a couple of times, showing strong performances in the race, battling some of the much faster cars, or sticking to the cars that are supposed to be much faster. “It’s a great effort and, above all, I think it was a huge improvement for the whole team. I think the leveling for this team at the beginning of the season was bad because they had no development and were way behind. “

Mick Schumacher joined Haas on the F1 grid in early 2021 after winning the F2 title in 2020. His rookie year in the top division of motorsport was unfortunately difficult due to the lack of development of his team.

Regardless of this, Schumacher occasionally showed highlights throughout the season. One of the highlights of his season was his battle with Max Verstappen in Hungary, and he occasionally managed to pull his car out of Q1.

Sebastian Vettel announces that he has “considered retirement” prior to joining Aston Martin

The four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has announced that after he was fired from Ferrari at the beginning of the 2020 season, he “got it into his mind” to retire.

In an interview with Express, the Aston Martin driver said:

“Of course you sometimes ask yourself the question of meaning. I would be lying if I said that the thought hadn’t crossed my mind yet. ”“ But I’m not just delivering messages. Then I would not be true to myself and I would not be so good. “” If I no longer feel the inner drive and ambition and only hold on to it to deliver messages or to top up the bank balance, it would be a betrayal “of the coming generation and live the dream. ”“ After all, I can still take care of certain things when I’m no longer driving. But the fire is still burning. “

Sebastian Vettel moved to the newly renamed Aston Martin team with a two-year contract for the 2021 season. For the season with Vettel at the top, the team was initially optimistic.

The rule changes for 2021 with the aim of reducing downforce, however, affected teams with low-rake aero concepts disproportionately. Aston Martin’s performance took a serious dip amid the changes.

In the constructors’ championship, the team finished seventh, just ahead of Williams. This was in contrast to a strong 2020 campaign in which they battled McLaren for P3 among the constructors. Sebastian Vettel, however, hopes that the team will have a chance to start the new season with a brand new “formula”.
