Sebastian Vettel Provides Insider Glimpse Into 'Childish' FIA-F1 Driver Discussions

The new Aston Martin F1 factory at Silverstone is almost ready to be unveiled this year. Everyone in the motorsport world is eagerly waiting to see how the new infrastructure looks with the investment of billionaire Lawrence Stroll.

Furthermore, the team, in partnership with JCB, has done something unique and fun while developing their factory. The iconic British had asked their fans to provide suggestions on what they should bury in the foundations of the factory.

According to their official website, they decided they will bury a Formula One chassis in the ground that could be discovered after 50 years. They even asked their drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll, to chime in and give something valuable to bury. Vettel went for a signed pair of underwear while Stroll gave a signed miniature replica of his racing helmet.

It’s safe to assume that the underwear was Vettel’s. But in case it wasn’t, it’ll be interesting to find out whose it was.

FIA recently came out and revealed that it would be monitoring and punishing drivers with fines and penalties who wear jewelry and do not wear fireproof underwear during competitive events. These regulations came under scrutiny from drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

While Hamilton wore as much jewelry as he could at the Miami Press Conference, Vettel opted for a unique solution to protest again the governing body. He wore his underwear outside of his race suit. When asked by Autosport about the manner of his protest, he said “It was just ap*ss-take. I don’t care, but it’s just funny that we keep talking about it.”

It would be hilarious if the time capsule underwear is the same one that he wore for the protest. All of this certainly wouldn’t have been a part of Aston Martin’s original plan to challenge for world champions.

Having a technologically advanced factory will really help the British team in its quest for world championships. Hence, the opening of the factory in the coming months would mark a landmark achievement in that plan.
