Sebastian Vettel not only set impressive lap times in the second practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix, but also seemed to have enough time for a new look. After struggling hard into Q3 in the first races, the four-time driver champion drove the eighth fastest lap with “one eye” in the second free practice session. Vettel heard him tell the team about his vision problems and in return, his Aston Martin F1 team gave him a gift at the end of the session. While Sebastian Vettel was running F1 qualification simulations in his Aston Martin, he radioed his team that he had tears in his eyes. After the race, the Aston Martin F1 driver said, “I don’t know what was going on! I had the first few runs and something got in my eye and then it got worse on the second run … It wasn’t bleeding, but I said [on the radio that] either I’m emotional, or something else happened because it was just tears and tears and I blinked the whole round. Not ideal on a track like this.
“So the team was really nice and they did me that. So I think I’ll probably keep that and it will protect me for the rest of the weekend,” laughed Sebastian Vettel at his new look.
