Before each Grand Prix weekend, the press conference is one of the first traditional activities. This season, all 20 drivers held the press conferences in set pairs. At the French Grand Prix, we saw four-time world champions Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez from Red Bull to answer the media.

During the traditional media call, the German didn’t regret not returning to Red Bull in 2021 and was delighted with Perez’s success this season.

During the 2020 F1 season, Red Bull had to solve a major dilemma. Although youngster Alexander Albon started for the Austrian team in 2020, he wasn’t quite able to convince Red Bull in 2021.
While they had this problem, Sebastian Vettel had no place for the 2021 season after Ferrari released him. However, Aston Martin, who was Racing Point in 2020, decided to sign the 33-year-old for the 2021 season.

Despite the opportunity to return to the team in which he won four world titles, Vettel expressed no regrets. The German also believes returning to Red Bull this season wasn’t an option. At today’s press conference he said, “No, I don’t regret it and I don’t think it was an option.
“Of course I’ve decided to take a new direction and join a new team with Aston Martin on a new journey and I’m very happy about that.”

Perez’s future in Formula 1 was uncertain despite an impressive 2020 season. However, Red Bull ended that uncertainty by signing the Mexican for the 2021 season. The former Racing Point driver took his first race win at the Sakhir Grand Prix, while finishing 4th in the drivers’ championship last season.

Vettel believes the 31-year-old deserves his seat based on his accomplishments over the years. “To be honest, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I am very happy that Checo has found a great place. Because he deserves it. He showed it, and not just with the win.

He’s shown it for the past 10 years, or something like that, that he was in Formula 1. He deserves to be in a great car. “
After the two drivers have tried success in Baku, their focus shifts to this weekend. Although they are in different fights, they hope to continue their good form at the French Grand Prix.
